Uninspired by words

yet taken back by memory's gentle hand

reaching out.

A soft tuft of air waves past

lifting the heaviness of leaves

into a short-lived breeze.

Memories of people across the ocean

plane or train rides away

materialise beside you. You can’t

look at them but you can remember:

hands eyes voice presence

- silence.

Wishing you could bring

their universe

to yours,

you hang like a droplet from a streetlamp

- waiting.
